High School Senior Killed In Single-Car Hudson Valley Crash

A high school senior just three weeks away from her scheduled graduation was killed in a car crash in the Hudson Valley.

Jennifer Dickson attended Arlington High School in Lagrangeville, according to the East Fishkill Police Department.

The single-car crash occurred around noontime Friday in Pleasant Valley that occurred southbound on  Route 47 (Freedom Road) near Frost Hill Road when her car struck a pole.

Grief counselors will be available on Monday at Arlington High School.

"Our professional staff (psychologists, social workers, school counselors, is available to provide support to students during this difficult time," Arlington High School Executive Principal Dr. Paul Fanuele said. "This loss may raise feelings of sadness, anger and hurt for those who knew Jennifer as well as for others experiencing loss or trauma in their lives."

Dr. Brendan Lyons, Arlington Central School District Superintendent of Schools, wrote on Twitter: "A member of the Arlington family has been lost. Please keep Jennifer and her family in your thoughts."

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

The 18-year-old Dickson's death marks the third year in a row an Arlington High School senior was killed in a crash just before graduation.

Arlington seniors Ryan Mucci and Dillon Colon died as the result of a car accident on May 31 last year.
